Sweet Revival {mid century media center}

I've been admiring the mid century pieces I'm seeing with the Danish oil case and white painted drawers.  The contrast of the light & dark is so striking.  I've been wanting to do this treatment for over a year now but just never found a piece I was willing to paint, until last week.  Yay!

This media center is a great piece of functional furniture but low end B.o.r.i.n.g. with a capital B.  And the choice of an orange stain...  why, people?  My sensibly good taste doesn't comprehend orange stain.

Don't you love these before pics?  The reality of the before all raw & in your face - cobwebs, sticky goop on the interior, and dried soup (?) on the doors.  Yep, I'm pretending that's dried soup 'cause, who knows?  Tip:  gloves are a vintage girl's best friend.

Actually, the case itself is made with a beautifully grained walnut.  What a waste of good wood.

Here's the cleaned up version all oiled and waxed.  I always like to take a second look at each piece before making the final decision to paint.  Yep, doors are still orange.  But not for long}.

Now that's better!  I love the deep wood grain in the walnut case.  I knew there was some beauty underneath that orange!

What a transformation, all elegant and modern!  She's quite the looker now ;)
